Re: Putting my cat to sleep TOMORROW - worried it's not right

The days have gotten away from me between walking and sleeping. I can’t believe it’s already Wednesday. Sorry to have not replied sooner. Thanks for sharing that poem, Lilith. I like Yeats. I hope she is in such a place as the one in those lines. And thank you, RuthB, nanny pamy and Grace56 for shar...

Re: Putting my cat to sleep TOMORROW - worried it's not right

Thank you to everyone who took the time to offer me advice and words of comfort, Lilith, Kay, booktigger, Grace56, Ruth B, Crewella, bobbys girl, elastu, GillianH and JulieJulie. I wish the days would move faster so I could be further away from this pain, but on the other hand, I wish time would not...

I can't respond properly right now, but i am reading your messages and getting something out of all of them, for which i am grateful.

I'm going to pick up her ashes now and bring her remains home.

Re: Putting my cat to sleep TOMORROW - worried it's not right

I thank you all for thinking of me and Buffy and for taking the time to write words of comfort. I don't believe in god or an afterlife but i still hope that she is waiting for me somewhere. in fact, i had taken to telling her about such a place in her final days. A small green valley hidden away, wi...

Re: Putting my cat to sleep TOMORROW - worried it's not right

She’s gone. It was the right time. She seemed really dejected yesterday, and when the vet and nurse came she didn’t seem to react to their presence, which is strange for her. Just before they came she settled down without fuss, which she hasn’t being doing the last few days. She looked, to my mind, ...

Re: Putting my cat to sleep TOMORROW - worried it's not right

Thank you all for your love and well wishes.

Last night Buffy wouldn’t settle for hunger. I tried everything, and none of it worked.
She is the same today.
The time is right, if she doesn’t go now she’s going to suffer.
They are coming in a few hours.

My heartis broken.

Re: Putting my cat to sleep TOMORROW - worried it's not right

Thank you both.
Yes, I have to remember i am saving her from pain and suffering.

I can't believe this is finally happening though. She's all i've got. I'm really struggling with the morality of this. I know it is right, but...

my heart is breaking.

Tonight's going to be my last night with her.

Re: In desperate need of advice about a stray cat.

^Sorry. I couldn't get any more news about the cat as the father of the family I gave the cat to (my cousin) passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 29, not long after they took the cat. It was my cousin who arranged for his wife and young children to take the cat; they were separated at...

Putting my cat to sleep TOMORROW - worried it's not right

Hello again, forum I need help with this. Please bear with my long post. I have arranged for the vet to come to my home tomorrow to put my sixteen-year-old cat to sleep. I feel like it is the right thing, but I also feel like I am about to murder the creature that has been at my side night and day f...

Re: In desperate need of advice about a stray cat.

That's great news, and it does seem that your fears were unfounded. I'm so pleased - for the cat, for you, and for your cat. Good work, well done! :D Your shelter looks OK to me, I bet the cat was very grateful for it. And your lovely little cat looks a bit like my Grumpy nellie (in my avatar). :) ...

Re: In desperate need of advice about a stray cat.

Well that does sound a lot more hopeful. :) It's nice to see your girl venturing out. I know what you mean about the shelter. Some folks we know (who were keen to move back to England - God knows why) have just sold their lovely little house, complete with stream, wood and a couple of acres of land...

Re: In desperate need of advice about a stray cat.

Apparently, it is not a farm but a smallholding. Also, I've been told the family loves animals and takes great care of them, showing their horses at events and stuff. She took it in out of the goodness of her heart and I assume the worst because rats and a caravan are mentioned. It's going to be a f...

Re: In desperate need of advice about a stray cat.

^I hope so. And if not? I'm not going to wash my hands of it. I would have to... what? Bring it back here to live in its little shelter while my own cat becomes ever more scared to go downstairs? What could I do? I can't believe there is not one local cat rescue, or foster home of some sort, or at t...

Re: In desperate need of advice about a stray cat.

It's gone. Gone to live with the distant relative (an auntie) who i'd never met before today. I'm suspicious of the environment it has gone to though; when the phrases "It'll live in a caravan I have for them" and "They help keep the rat numbers down" are bandied about, I can't h...

Re: In desperate need of advice about a stray cat.

Bobbys girl, I think you might be right. One of the houses I used to see it climb in the window of is now vacant, which makes me think that was its home. I will try to locate the former occupiers and see if it is theirs. Although, if it is theirs, I feel like the cat would be better off with anyone ...

Re: In desperate need of advice about a stray cat.

^My neighbours couldn't give a monkeys. The rescue shelters are all full up and not taking on any cats whatsoever - there was no mention of waiting lists. The cat is getting bolder in its attempts to get in the house now; unless i am hyper-vigilant, it will get in somehow (I will be hyper-vigilant t...

Nothing :(
Either “Not in catchment area”, “Phone number's no longer in use”, “Full up, sorry”.

Cat is yowling like mad outside even though it has been fed:

Re: In desperate need of advice about a stray cat.

I am in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, Sarah. Thanks for the list, Crewella. It doesn't look like I am in the catchment area for the vast majority that are somewhat near me. There are two or three that don't say where their areas extend to, I shall call those up tomorrow (and the ones that aren't). By...

In desperate need of advice about a stray cat.

A few weeks ago, I noticed that a local stray had taken up permanent residence in the garden next door. A few months prior to that, I had heard the same cat howling on the rooftops. After seeking out the source of the noise, I saw her yowling at the window of an attic bedroom. After knocking on the ...
