Re: Mayday's 1st anniversary
Hi Vivian, One year ago - so sad I know, you were there for me (as well as many other) when I lost 'The Cat', who gave me great support which I will never forget. It will be one year next Monday for me, they do leave a big hole but like you I have adopted a new fur baby who is adorable, but you alwa...

Re: The hurt is unbearable
Hi, I have followed your post but so far I have not replied - sorry for that - it upsets me as I completely understand that feeling of sorrow and loss. I have my boy's ashes on my bedside table - maybe a little morbid but there is a part of me that doesn't want to let him go - yes, I should and he s...

Re: Overwhelming grief
I also agree with the other posts - I know how hard it is to lose a much loved pet but I have been helping out with my local Cats Protection and I find that it gives me something back. I don't do much for them as I work full time, but when I can help, I do. Sometimes with their homing events and tak...

Re: Overwhelming grief
I used Blue Cross in the very early days and found them very helpful. Yes, I totally understand that the grief takes you in waves - one minute you are OK and then it hits you so hard you are back to where to where you started. I guess that is what grief does to you. Did I suffer depression - well I ...

Tracy - so sorry for your loss, I know how that feels - time is great healer and although you won't feel it now, it is true. Post on here whenever you need to.

Re: What to do when your animals are all you have?
Hi Kris35, It does get easier, honestly, but it took me a long time and I still miss my boy and have a weep every now and then (like now as I write this!). There does however come a time when you remember all the fun times and the joy that they bring you. Having another cat has helped a great deal b...

Re: What to do when your animals are all you have?
Hello Kris 35, So sorry to hear about poor Tezzy. I know how you are feeling, when I lost my boy last Nov, I was in bits and did go to a dark place. The others on here helped a great deal but it is only through time that you get through the feelings you are going through right now. I live alone (whi...

Re: Does it get any easier?
Molly has now been with me for nearly 2 weeks, she is lovely. I have just reread my initial post when 'The Cat' was pts and the hurt is still there, but Molly has given me something back. I have given a home to a cat that wasn't wanted anymore. Surely that is the greatest gift we can give - whilst i...

Re: Does it get any easier?
I haven't been on here for a while but thought I would post an update. On Friday I will collect a lovely 2 year old tortie female (Molly) who is coming to live with me. It has taken me 3 months before I was able to think about getting another cat but I realise that I need one in my home and life. To...

Re: Cat cremation
Hello - so sorry to read about your experiences but one sentence of yours in particular made me want to respond 'I just feel like I am jinxed - 2 cats dying at a young age and not getting ashes for either of them. Feels like I am being punished' - no, no, no, it was not your fault in any way. It is ...

So Sorry to read your post - how very sad - yes I know it is raw however it will get better but yes there will be times when all you want to do is curl up in a ball and cry. I did and and still do after the loss of my boy late last year. Someone said to me on here - 'they take a cat shaped hole from...

So sorry to hear about poor Bob, I don't know if you remember but my cat had the same condition. He seemed fine up until the last day and a half but when I took him to the vets, he said it was time and that he looked tired. I know it will be hard but it is the right thing to do, you love him and car...

Re: Miss him so much
So sorry to hear about your loss - I completely understand how you are feeling. Over time you will feel better and remember the good times but I know that is too soon for you. For me I lost my cat 'The Cat' 30th Nov last year and most nights I cry for him as I still miss him so much but I do remembe...

Re: Lost my beautiful angel Binky Christmas Day
Anna,
How beautiful and yes so sad at the same time. Cats are free spirits and they need their own space in life and in death - what a wonderful memorial. I still have my cat in a wooden box - maybe I should let him free to enjoy the garden he loved so much.
Take care xx

Re: Lost my beautiful angel Binky Christmas Day
Anna, I have just re-read your initial post and again cried, I admit that it was not only for you but selfishly also for myself - it has been just over 5 weeks since I lost my boy and not a day goes by when I don't think about him (he is on my bedside table in a beautiful wooden box). Saying that, I...

Didi, So sorry to hear about poor Milo, it is easy for me to say 'don't feel guilty' but I know you will as I did too when I made the final decision for my boy. The 'what if I had done something sooner, why didn't I notice he was poorly', these feelings are completely natural. However, please know t...

Anna1502, So sad to read you post - I know, as well as many others on here, exactly what you are feeling right now, it is raw, it hurts and you will cry and cry. This is normal, for anyone who has known the love of a cat they are our soulmates, friends and companions and to lose them is terrible. Pl...

So sorry to hear about Dora - there is no such thing as 'just a cat', they are all so special. I lost my cat just over 3 weeks ago and now I am feeling guilty - what if I has done this or that - but I know it wouldn't have changed anything, it is still very hard but it does get better over time. It ...

Missey, You did do the right thing, it is the kindest thing to have done, I know what it feels like as do many others on here. I still miss my boy terribly and I thought that bringing his ashes home would help - to begin with it didn't and I felt dreadful for a few days (crying, crying and then cryi...

Sorry to be so self indulgent but I have gone downhill tonight - not sure why, almost feel I am back to where I was over 10 days ago. I still haven't got my boy's ashes yet, the people at the vets said they would call me but still nothing. I will call tomorrow as I need some sort of closure - not su...

Thanks for all your comments, it is getting easier, I miss my boy dreadfully but I can now think back with smiles to the good times when he was younger and healthier. I still have a major wobble now and then, usually at the strangest time, for example in Tesco's last night I went down the pet food i...

Does it get any easier?
'The Cat' 2.jpg Hello, My cat was put to sleep on Monday evening after many infections but it was found he had a tumour in his mouth. I have cried constantly since then and feel I will never get over it, I know I will but I miss him dreadfully. I live alone and work from home so he was with me 24 h...
