I thought generally kittens are best left with the mum and siblings till ten or twelve weeks ideally. Eight weeks seems a bit early for cats, they learn important socialization skills when with mum and crew. The kitten left longer is honestly better off then the sibs leaving at eight weeks. I am in Europe and live in a large city and my cat from a shelter is an indoor kitty and he seems quite happy :) All the other volunteers with cats in the shelter have indoor kitty's. Why not put general cat chatting further up, it seems rather unused....
I think the forum would get more use overall if the general issue, conversation section was more prominent.
Also, what about feline leukemia, a small section for that issue? FIV is pretty well covered.

Definetly let the rescue that recommended the sitter, know that she skimped on her visits.... No wonder she charges cash upfront. I had a bad experience in the past as well with a cat sitter, she made one visit and when I came back there was tons of cat food and water scattered around and quite a me...
