Re: Thankyou to everyone for advice
Thanks for the advice - will make appointment to get vaccinations as soon as possible as certainly don't want to take any chances on her catching anything awful from other cats as there are quite a lot in our area

Re: Thankyou to everyone for advice
I certainly won't disappear Ruth B as I love hearing about everyone's cats and picking up hints and tips and I'm sure I'll be needing more advice in the months to come - the next pit stop at the vets is for her injections- we assume she hasn't had any - if her previous owners couldn't be bothered to...

Thankyou to everyone for advice
Just want to say a HUGE Thankyou to everyone who supported Kitty and I with kind words and sound advice during the somewhat traumatic period during and after her spaying op. Happy to say Kitty is now allowed out! She went out yesterday for a few hours and came home when called and rewarded with a tr...

Re: Kitty doing well
Haha yes Lilith she is a little horror at times and especially when she's waking us up at 4am - the latest trick is paw in the sliding wardrobe doors sliding them open !! And Ruth B I certainly fit into the happy with my lot demographic - I have friends with kids who look 20yrs older than me - somet...

Re: Kitty doing well
I'm so glad I'm not the only worrier out there!! Its bad enough worrying about our errant felines I can't imagine how worrying it must be to be a parent It's just as well I didn't have children I'd be a nervous wreck by now! I remember my mam when I went off to uni in the mid 80s on the national exp...

Re: Kitty doing well
Kitty didn't come home last night. We spent an absolutely fraught night shaking her biscuits and calling her every hour - no Kitty. I finally drifted into a restless sleep tormented by images of Kitty being hurt, attacked, lost, confused alone or dead. Of course I blamed myself as I let her out. She...

Re: Kitty doing well
Thankyou for your kind words Lilith - bless you - and yes you're right - it's a huge op for any female and I'm wondering if her clingyness and meowing is to do with hormones? After all when a woman has a hysterectomy it brings on the menopause which is a nightmare - so why would a female cat be any ...

Re: Kitty doing well
Thanks for the advice - kitty didn't go out today after all because it's raining!! Didn't want to - typical cat! I think she's still getting used to being called Kitty - with her being either a stray or someone's unwanted cat we don't know if she had a name prior to coming to us. She does respond to...

Kitty doing well
Went to vets for check up tonight - all good.shes happy with Kitty but did say she should stay in ideally for another week - she's allowed out as long as stays in the garden but that's a tall order with a cat as curious as Kitty! She said if Kitty is an adventurer and likely to stay out all night th...

Re: Kitty's cat burglar!
We know where the crazy ginger ninja lives - just across the road and has a good home - and there's no way Kitty would share us with another cat I doubt! It's hard keeping her in when she's making such amazing progress - the scar is healing so well and she's back to normal - running about and trying...

Re: Kitty's cat burglar!
Lol - we tried keeping Kitty out of the bedroom but it made both her and us unhappy - so she usually sleeps with us for a while then goes to her own room - but with her not being well recently we wanted her close. She's definitely on the mend - she's into everything again and being naughty scratchin...

Kitty's cat burglar!
Kitty wouldn't settle last night - wanted to play - she's improving rapidly since the onesie has been removed ! So we're just letting her wander round - we'd normally keep lounge door closed as she's a little terror for scratching new sofa and carpet but under the circumstances we're letting her go ...

Re: Kitty back to vets
Ruth B - Thankyou for being concerned about Kitty - with all the worry and being backwards and forwards to vet I didn't even realise my phone was missing until I went to set my alarm at bedtime and then there was panic! We checked all over but as it was dark we left looking in the car until this mor...

Re: Kitty back to vets
Thankyou so much Lilith - I'm not with it at all at the moment - can't remember where phone or anything else is! I blame lack of sleep and sitting up with a poorly puss. She's back on our bed asleep all curled up and must be dreaming as whiskers and toes are all twitching - bless her she's probably ...

Re: Kitty back to vets
Apologies for delayed update on Kitty Puss - I managed to lose my phone - finally found it this morning after much panic in the car!!! The vet took the onesie off kitty and gave us a cone instead and also manipulated her bladder until she had a wee to make sure all was ok - she said she was constipa...

Re: Kitty back to vets
Thanks for the reassurance everyone - it means a lot - i'm not one to keep pestering the vet but I genuinely feel somethings not right with her - I don't want to get a reputation as a fusspot with the vet but better safe than sorry as she's so precious to us just can't take any risks. we've been giv...

Kitty back to vets
Kitty is not well. Spent all last night on the settee but when we got up this morning she's licked and bitten a raw patch where the leg of the onesie is - opposite side to op. She's washing herself constantly And obsessively and washing the onesie, settee, the throw, our hands- anything close at hand...

Re: Kitty sudden change of behaviour
Thankyou Lilith - all good news - she's slept all day in her box but as soon as she heard Kev coming in from work she was up - she even climbed onto his knee and as she hasn't got much fur to clean due to onesie she decided to clean his beard! It was a pleasure to watch - she obviously thinks he's a...

Re: Kitty sudden change of behaviour
Kitty has eaten a good breakfast with meds added and extra chicken. We managed to tempt her out of her box and she ate her breakfast purring all the time but as soon it was eaten she went straight back in - left her washing herself and still purring. She usually sleeps after the painkillers so will ...

Re: Kitty sudden change of behaviour
Oh bless you Lilith Thankyou for being worried on our behalf and Thankyou Ruth that made me laugh - yes there aren't many people who want to hear about litter trays or celebrate when they're used 😂! Going to keep off dry foods for now seeing as she's probably a bit bunged up and just leave her in pe...

Re: Best flea treatment??
Thanks Ruth - will give that a try as we did get a flea collar but she wouldn't keep it on and I'm not really keen on collars - always afraid they might catch on something and get caught - and as she's an outdoor cat and always climbing it's more of a risk.

Re: Kitty sudden change of behaviour
Good news - the moment Kitty heard my boyfriend come in from work she was out of her box meowing at the top of the stairs then when he went up to see her she went straight into her tray for a poo(which did look a bit dry) then ate treats and wet food and chicken breast - all hand fed by my boyfriend...

Re: Kitty sudden change of behaviour
Thanks Dave - I'm trying not to stress as I know she'll pick that up from me - hard not to do - I'm not feeling very well myself either so that won't help. She's been to the loo the day of her op and Tuesday but nothing yesterday or today - but she's bound to go at some point - tried to make it easy...

Re: Kitty sudden change of behaviour
Thanks for the replies - I've given her her breakfast as normal which she ate - half in half out of her box and there was painkiller mixed in with it as vet advised - and she purrs when I put my hand in to stroke her gently but she just won't come out. What am I looking for with regard to temperatur...

Kitty sudden change of behaviour
Really worried - Kitty went into the little enclosed box in the base of her cat furniture last night about 8pm and refuses to come out. She normally wanders through the night and wakes us every morning - now she's cowering in her little box - won't go the loo or eat or drink - just peeping out with ...

Re: Best flea treatment??
Thankyou so much for your reply Ruth - it's good to know that the one we've been prescribed has a good reputation - you've also put my mind at rest about fumigating the whole house. It was all done around Xmas time with indorex and we've also vaxed since then and retreated and put some new flooring ...
