Re: New kitten - poop help
Hi and welcome, yes I’d say the treats are the cause if all was fine before. Usually it’s best to stick to what they’ve been having and gradually introduce other foods if you like. Saying that it’s tempting to treat your new little cat but you will find what agrees with what doesn’t over time. My ca...

Re: cat toilet training outside
Most of the cats I’ve had have preferred to use a tray indoors too, even coming in after being out a few hours just to go to the loo. However, my current cat prefers to go outside, but she’s in most days from lunchtime onwards, and will use a tray if she needs to go then. I would always have a tray ...

Re: WF11 (West Yorkshire) - Cat and Kittens Need Catching
Hi and welcome. Here is a list of rescues specifically in your area: https://www.catchat.org/index.php/cat-rescue-centres-west-yorkshire I would try one of the other CP and Cat Action Trust first, they are usually very helpful at catching ferals. Barnsley CP (my area) helped me many years ago. They ...

Re: Cat dragging bottom and frequent licking
Usually dragging is anal glands I’ve found, but if that’s ok...the other thing, my neighbours cat wasn’t dragging, but was licking his bum a lot. Although her cat goes out to poo, she has noticed when he has used the tray indoors, and the cattery noticed too. always loose poos and a some blood somet...

My cat’s the same with plastic, I have to move any bags or anything covered in plastic because she will chew at it. Wonder why - that’s a common one it seems. From what I’ve read it can be scents on the bag / smell of plastic, crinkley noise it makes, stress, boredom (like us chewing fingernails e.g...

It’s good to hear her appetite is back and she’s eating well now, and I’m sure her digestion etc will improve once she settles back to her normal routine.

Have you tried Gourmet pates to tempt him to eat, mine love those, always help encourage them to eat. I wouldn’t want to make his tummy worse, but there’s nothing worse than not having an appetite as we know ourselves. Give him a snuggle from me xx

Hi and welcome. A few of my very oldies have had dentals with CKD, thyroid and other elderly cat issues and have all been fine, and benefited from the dentals, be that teeth or tummy wise or other. All mine have had shorter dentals though as it can be risky, and on a drip and if the cats have needed...

Re: Fat cat needs to lose weight
It’s good that you’re doing this for him. If you cut down his food say by even 1/4 to 1/2 a pouch a day over a week say, i.e. gradually - slowly does it, and persevere, he’ll not even notice it and feel so much better. Best of luck!

Re: Fat cat needs to lose weight
A couple of thoughts - I would split the food up, as you say you already are, so he’s getting little and often. Another thing is to encourage him to exercise more, so e.g. get one of those sticks with something attached, so you can get him running round. My cat loves ribbon or string, and will follo...

I know I have to have a shallow litter tray for my 3 ferals, plus I have a couple of dishes for birds, hedgeghogs etc. Have to keep checking the bowls as they’re drying up so fast. Re: Introducing a cat to a pup
Hiya, unfortunately I’m not really sure what you can do as I’ve never had dogs and cats together, hopefully someone will be able to advise soon. How does the dog react when he sees the cat? As you know cats are very territorial so your little girl most likely feels that her space has been invaded. I...

Re: Rescuing feral kittens?
Hi and welcome. Where abouts do you live? About 12 years ago I trapped, neutered and released a group of ferals where I live and myself and neighbours have cared for them outside since. I contacted my local Cats Protection, who came out with a trap and showed me how to use it, then left it with me. ...

Re: Is it okay to give a little tuna juice (in their food) to a senior cat with kidney disease?
Hiya, well I’m sure that you’ll get other replies and they may differ to mine. However, I adopted oldies for many years (until my younger addition decided she was living with us!) and most had kidney disease at some point, and I have to say I’ve given them exactly what they want to eat. I did try th...

It's been a while since I last posted an update since nothing really happened in between then and now, thought I should give one now. :? Hi and welcome. I appreciate that you need to rehome urgently but would always advise going through a rescue if possible. If when you’ve rung round all the rescues they are full then please be careful rehoming, there’s some dubious people about. This information below explains how to rehome safely: ...
