I’d mention it to your vet as well, but very often is something like food causing the problem. Let us know how you get on.mr_frisky wrote:I'll give them a go, thanks. They currently have Whiskas in gravy, Purina One sensitive and Dreamies, with Sheba at the weekends.

Re: ADVICE NEEDED FOR OUTSIDE CAT
I agree with previous reply. It’s only fair on your cat to find her a new home where she can be inside with her humans now, as she’s missing that as well as her mate. Would it also be possible to have her indoors until a home is found, and in case you find your other cat - so they can be homed toget...

Re: Anyone ever find blood in faeces?
I think cats can get it all the time even if they’re intolerant to a food, it’s just keeping a watch if they don’t use the tray much indoors. In fact the cattery said they get a lot of cats like this so my neighbour said spread the word to other customers. Sometimes I think it can happen if they nee...

Re: Anyone ever find blood in faeces?
I’ve had cats with this on and off and in my experience it’s usually a food allergy / intollerance causing it. In fact more recently my neighbour had the same problem with her cat. She’d noticed it before occasionally when he used the litter tray (he mainly went outside) along with runny poo, and th...

Re: Odd noise when eating, breathing and purring.
Cat soups may help if she likes them. The other thing I would say is, although warmed/room temperature stuff may be helpful when trying to get them to smell and eat foods, you want the opposite with medication i.e. so they can’t smell it. I used to empty an antibiotic capsule into some cool cat milk...

One of mine used to take Bisolvon for mucus problems, it worked very well at thinning it as it was very thick. I used to sprinkle a bit in his water, it was fine if my other cat drank it as well. He was an oldie though so drank a fair bit and suffered most of the time with mucus and chesty coughs, w...

Re: Injured Feral Cat
If you contact a rescue, as Lilith says, such as Cats Protection (if you are in the UK?) they should be able to help you out. Also, if you took a feral to a vets they may liaise with a rescue they deal with and pay, or pay so much. Best of luck, thankfully he has you looking out for his welfare. The...

Hi and welcome to you and your cat :) I’ve never had FIV cats, but I look after feral cats - who may have it we wouldn’t know. The other year, the oldest of the ferals had a terrible cold, runny eyes, sore mouth/throat (obvious how he was eating) sneezing, poor appetite etc. I was really concerned a...

I hope that you’ve managed to sort this out now.
If it’s a mucus problem then I agree about the Bisolvon. My cat had to take that all the time for nasal problems, a pinch in his water each day and it worked very well at thinning the mucus.

If the vet can definitely find nothing then the only thing I can think is some form of allergy - was this mentioned? Although allergies can start at any time, even after using something for years, can you think of anything you changed when this started? did you start using any different perfumes, de...

Hello and welcome :) just to add this link may also be helpful: https://www.catchat.org/index.php/new-cat-in-the-home One thing I would say, as your cat is elderly (and having introduced two elderly cats a few times) is things will usually go ok if your own cat can feel secure that he’s still top ca...

After our experience with Stealth, and having seen a mild reaction by Hendrix to Advocate, I am beginning to wonder about the wisdom of giving them flea treatment UNLESS they need it. Re: Currently don’t have a garden, anyone know of any animal shelters that don’t require you to have a garden?
Hi and welcome :) There may be some rescues who will have cats that need indoor homes, I’ve fostered cats who’ve been scared of the door, and they would probably suit being indoors, but rescues do have the best interests of the cats at heart and they say they need safe outdoor access for a reason. I...

I’d get a vet trip too. My cat’s about 8 1/2 and has to have a dental on Monday and I wouldn’t know she needed this as she’s eating fine, other than my vet checking her mouth when she had her vaccinations. Bloods are a good idea too at that age, if she’s not eating as usual.

My neighbours cat had been like yours Tinkerbeth for a long time on and off but it was getting worse. She was advised “Hills” grain free by the vet and go back if no better. Hi and welcome. No judgement at all, it’s good that you’re asking for help to sort it out.
