Home urgently needed.... Barnsley area

Post by Tilly262 »

Hiya this is really hard to ask but we really need to rehome our beloved cat, Tilly. We brought Tilly in from been feral in Nov 2015 and she's been the most loving cat since however we have just had a new baby and have a 1 year old aswell, and our newborn is suffering with a really bad chest and baby asthma, he's only two month old so he is our main priority at the min.
Tilly has also had an allergic reaction to a flea bite and is chewing her base of her tail sore we have treated her and had a course of anti biotics from the vets but she's still chewing, we really need to get rid of tilly asap, unfortunately we'll have to look into getting her euthanised if we can't re home we really want her to go we're she will be cared for,
We will bring her with some goodies and food to help out, she's a black and white, short hair domestic and has been microchipped and neutered
Really hard to let her go :(
Many thanks

Cat Chat’s rehoming advice page might help, which also includes advice on ways to avoid having to rehome: https://www.catchat.org/rehome.html

Hi and welcome. Sorry that you feel you need to rehome your cat. Do follow the advice in the link above as it give alternatives to rehoming, but if that’s the only option there’s lots of advice. My cat suffers with flea allergy dermatitis and unless she’s treated monthly with Advocate she gets a bite and ends up grounded with a comfy collar on for a week or two to stop her scratching. So it may be that your cat needs a collar on to break the habit and let the tail heal. I also used an antibacterial powder (you can buy both from Amazon or pet shops) which helps the sores to heal. See this thread here:

It could be that she’s stressed too, if she senses that there’s some upset in the house. Allergies are awful, but there are options and I hope you manage to solve things, if not there’s really no need to put a healthy cat to sleep, the flea allergy etc can be sorted, and a new home found if need be. Best of luck.
