IMPORTANT: Product recall Armitage Flea Drops for Cats

Post by brigidrynne »

Haven't been here for a very long time, so it's possible someone has already posted this. An alert concerning Armitage Flea Drops for Cats is circulating from a government news site. In short, a batch of flea and tick treatment for dogs was mislabelled as flea treatment for cats, and contains permethrin, which is highly poisonous to cats: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/armi ... fect-alert.
If you have some of this at home, don't use it.

I'd just read about this and while it doesn't affect me as I use Stronghold, I'm glad to see it mentioned here. The word needs to be spread as far and as fast as possible.

Thanks Brigid. I was amazed to see that Armitage haven't posted the recall on their own Facebook page - I have done it for them!!! - although guest posts appear very small, so barely visible. Also posted on Purrs forum.

I never use 'Pet shop brands' like Armitage and Bob Martn, but I know plenty of people do.

I looked again tonight. They had deleted my post and a couple of other post after mine - however, they have now posted the recall. There are also a few new posted that they haven't deleted yet. One of them if from a woman that said she had applied the product to her 17 year old cat, before seeing the recall. They replied that if she could contact them direct 'That would be great' - the cat is at the vet. It has done something to its skin by the sound of it and the woman has been warned that her cat may need to be PTS if there is any internal damage

PS - They have been aware since the end of October!!!!!

They should at least lose their royal warrant!
