Hi, I'm not sure where is the appropriate place to post this. I have a much loved rescue cat that I have had from 12 weeks who arrived with significant behaviour problems, and she is nearly 3. She is also neutered, and indoor only.
I had hoped that we would be able to work on her confidence, as she is very skittish, and work with her tolerance so she would at least tolerate our other cats. That unfortunately hasn't happened and it's clear that her stress levels are only increasing, she is now showing aggression towards all of our 4 other cats, as opposed to what it had been which was aggression towards one specific cat.
She also struggles with the noise of our children. I have 2 toddlers and another baby on the way, and she finds the noise of everything highly stressful. She has her own space as much as we can give her but as we are in a 2 bedroom flat, space is limited.
I am an experienced cat owner and private rescuer, so I've tried all my tricks with her and my other cats but the situation is deteriorating. After losing a cat in 2015 to FIP, I am very concerned that I don't lose another, given that the illness mutates due to stress.
She desperately needs a home on her own or with one other cat at most, and no children under teenagers. She wouldn't cope in a rescue or foster situation, she needs a direct rehome.
I've contacted local rescues but gotten nowhere. I would really appreciate some help with what is a horribly difficult decision.
Thank you
