catching a ferel cat

Post by HAYLEYCASPERS »

Hello,

Wondering if anyone has any useful advice about capturing a Tom Cat. He is a nuisance and needs capturing, neuturing and re-homing. We have had no luck whatsoever with any of the charities and now at our wits end. Perhaps people might know where we could hire a capture cage and try and do it ourselves? Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome. Have you tried Cats Protection? They’re really good usually. I’ve borrowed traps a few times from them, although had to wait occasionally for a week or two until one came in if the loan one was out. If you don’t have a CP local to you then here’s a list of rescues (It’s in their best interests to get ferals trapped). If you click on your area there may be some rescues you’ve not already tried who will have a trap you can borrow:

Best of luck, and you are right, if you’re sure it’s a feral it’s better to get it sorted before it gets out of hand.

You say in your post he needs catching, neutering and rehoming maybe that's why you've struggled to get help if you ask again and are willing to trap, neuter and release him again and look out for his welfare when he's returned you may have more luck and he will stop being a nuisance, many rescues simply don't have facilities for ferals they struggle to rehome
