ABOUT US

ABOUT US

The Boxer Rescue Service (Southern) is a Registered Charity, formed in the early 1970's, to rescue & rehome unwanted Boxer Dogs.

We cover the areas of Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and Kent, for enquiries from other parts of the country please CLICK HERE

where you can see other Boxer Rescue units. We are completely independent from any breed club or any other rescue.

All our work is voluntary, and we are funded only by donations, our own fund raising activities, and membership fees, all of which we rely heavily on to pay for kennelling, veterinary fees and transport. Helpers are always welcomed, and if you would like to become part of team please CLICK HERE

If you would like to become a member and receive a regular Newsletter giving news of forthcoming events and stories about the Boxers we have rehomed please CLICK HERE

WHAT WE DO

Dogs come to us for a variety of reasons including marriage break ups, owner illness or a change in circumstances. Some have been abused or neglected and some are simply no longer wanted.

  • We ask for as much information about the dog including age, health, behaviour, likes & dislikes etc.

  • We take the dog to our vet for a health check and Titer Test to check for antibodies to avoid over vaccination & the health risks associated. We see each dog as an individual and treat them as such and if appropriate we arrange neutering .

  • We check & re register microchips.

  • We assess the dog’s character and behaviour so that we can match the dog to the appropriate home.

  • If needed a trainer/ behaviourist will begin work with the dog.

  • We search our database for a suitable match or advertise the dog via our website & Facebook page.

  • We arrange home checks for any potential homes through our network of volunteer home vetters.

  • If you are successful and we have a suitable dog you are invited to meet him/her at the kennels or the foster home.

  • We make every effort to match the dog to the home therefore we do not work on a first come first serve basis.

  • New owners will sign an Adoption Agreement, the terms of which must be adhered to. If for any reason the dog can no longer be cared for he/she must be returned to Boxer Rescue (Southern).

  • Once the dog is adopted , we follow up with a home visit approximately one month later to ensure everything is going well.

  • We provide follow up support for the remainder of the dog’s life.
