Thank You to all our Smashing Volunteers
We couldn't do what we do without You!

gemini cat thanks our volunteers

Cat Chat has been helping to rehome cats for eight years now, and the demand for our Charity's services has grown immensely in that time, and indeed, continues to grow. Many rescues refer to us as their 'Rehoming Life-line'. Our volunteers are a vital part of our operation, and for whose efforts we are incredibly grateful!

This page is to say THANKS to those wonderful people who are giving their valuable time, expertise and energy to help to make Cat Chat work. Thousands of ex-rescue cats are purring in their new homes thanks to these folks below, serving 'Cat and Country'!

CURRENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES APPEAR BELOW...
(Updated August 2008)

Distance Volunteers (Anywhere in the UK)
feline veterinary adviserFELINE VETERINARY ADVISER (enquiries by email)
- (1 vacant post - anywhere in the UK)
Requirements: Experienced, diplomatic, level-headed person with recognised professional veterinary qualifications.  A Good command of English and a good all round feline veterinary knowledge.
Time Commitment: variable – usually several enquiries each week, however additional input would be welcomed to assist with feline medical enquiries on our forum.
Answering public email enquiries on a wide range of feline medical issues. Occasionally emails may be upsetting or inflammatory, so a level head is required. You will need to be non-judgemental at all times, and to give considerate and professional veterinary advice on behalf of the Charity.  Experience in practice, and a recognised veterinary qualification is essential. Our adviser will need to be wholly sympathetic to the rescue sector, and would need to bear some of Cat Chat’s values in mind when advising, for example: encouraging neutering, discouraging breeding, and promoting a non-destruction policy for healthy animals (i.e. healthy FIV+s).
If you are interested, please email us, including a land line phone number, and we will call you for an initial chat: cat chat general email

Local Opportunities (South East Kent):
CHARITY TRUSTEE - (1 vacant post - S. E. Kent only):
trustees for cat chat charityRequirements: Animal lover, with some spare time • A connection to the web • A willingness to take on some level of responsibility • Honest, Trustworthy and Reliable • Any relevant or useful skills a bonus!
Time Commitment: The Trustees meet once a month, however you would be expected to take an active role, and to be involved in additional tasks requiring work between times, to the benefit of the Charity.

We currently have one vacant post on our Trustee body. Ideal candidates would have experience in one or more of the following fields; business management, publicity and marketing, trading, I.T., web development, finance, general admin, fundraising, staff management, grant funding, animal welfare, although these are not exclusive requirements - if you feel you have other skills which may help the Charity, we would still love to hear from you. Trusteeship gives an opportunity to actively shape the future of the Charity. Experience in the Charitable sector would be helpful but is not essential. We are a small, friendly committee, and one of us will be happy to have an informal chat if you think you may be interested in joining us. We currently have no-one in the post of Charity Secretary. We would also be pleased to find someone willing to become involved in either Fundraising or Publicity.
If you are an animal lover, have skills which you think would further the Chairty's aims, have some spare time, and you live in South East Kent, please email us, including a land line phone number please: cat chat general email

Local Opportunities (South East Kent):
EBAY WIZARD(s) - (S. E. Kent only):
ebaay for charityRequirements: Ebay knowledge • Ability to crop, resize and optimise photos for the web
We would love to hear from someone near us in Thanet who could organise our Ebay sales for us (both entering up the items and posting them out too!). We have a huge stack of stuff here to sell, mainly books, so it would only be practical for someone local or local-ish.
For further information, please email our Volunteer Co-ordinator: volunteer co ordinator or, to volunteer, please print off and complete our Volunteer Application Form, including details of two people we may apply to for references: Volunteer Application Form (PDF)
