Update on Ezri & Dax

Long time no see! Ezri & Dax are getting on a lot better and I have some photos of them sleeping on the bed together - however Ezri is still really irritating Dax by jumping on him all the time and he gets annoyed and walks out the room. Ezri loves Dax and gets really excited to see him but the ...

Re: Update on Ezri & Dax

It would be like WWIII if I kept him and never let him out again! He is a good hunter and regularly brings us birds, mice and frogs home. So maybe he is catching and eating them rather than bringing them home? He generally sleeps most of the day now, is that normal for a 4 year old?

Re: Update on Ezri & Dax

He seems to be getting better. He has been on Corvantal-D for 10 days now which has seemed to help his breathing. I think he is eating outside because we have reduced his food but he has put weight on. The vet wasn't the normal one when I went down today to pick up a prescription and was pretty poop...

Update on Ezri & Dax

Hello all, Its been 2 weeks now, and I think I am seeing progress! Dax growls and spits less but its still there. Today I bought a new cat tent and toy which Dax took some interest in which is different as he isn't normally interested. I have been getting cuddles in bed but nowhere where Ezri has be...

Re: Pneumonia and Heart Disease

They have seen him since he started to put weight on and done Xrays on the area and I think that it was because he has been eating for two cos he was taking her food. I need him to lose weight, roughly 5lbs for him to be normal weight. I think the meds for asthma have curbed his appetite. They have ...

Re: Pneumonia and Heart Disease

Ezri has had her vacs and she will be 10 weeks old on Friday. They haven't met each other for 2 days roughly because of schedules, like she has been in her room when he comes in. My boyfriend said he was lovely this morning. So maybe taking slower is good, he doesn't seem remotely interested in goin...

Re: Pneumonia and Heart Disease

Yeah they said asthma but it could be because he is overweight. The Xrays showed parts of his lung as showing asthma. I want to get him to lose weight but he is so fussy. He has vets on 28th Jan, phoned them today but they wouldn't let me speak to a vet, I want to know if the Corvental is causing hi...

Re: Pneumonia and Heart Disease

He is a lot better with me when I don't smell of Ezri, e.g had a shower and been to bed cos I must smell of me! He has always been good with meds too, with these as they are capsules I can open them and sprinkle on food and he eats them fine in the morning. I'm wondering if they reduce appetite beca...

Re: Pneumonia and Heart Disease

I think things are getting better. Dax has had some blood test results that show higher than normal liver enzyme levels so I need to ring them tomorrow. He has eaten less today and his breathing is getting better on meds but possibly needs a full tab instead of half. He hasn't been up much today

Re: Pneumonia and Heart Disease

I have just always used Stronghold and have never been told that there are better ones out there.

They have put him on Corvental D. Does anyone have any experiences with this?

Re: Pneumonia and Heart Disease

He does have dreamies as well, but we have started limiting him. He seems to have put a ton of weight on this week and I'm not sure how I can get him to lose weight because we aren't feeding him tons, like he doesn't have tidbits or anything he shouldn't eat. They think it could be an underactive th...

Re: Pneumonia and Heart Disease

The vet rang me back and says that he has mild asthma and it has kicked off because he has been stressed because of Ezri's arrival and the vet has suggested that I should rehome Ezri if he gets any worse. They are also doing blood tests for this thyroid because he constantly eats but hasn't got worm...

Re: Pneumonia and Heart Disease

They have taken him in for Xrays, because when they listened to his chest they thought they could hear/feel fluid on the lungs :(

Does anyone have experience of this, e.g. recovery, cost of meds etc

Pneumonia and Heart Disease

Dax has gone to the vet today and they think he may have pneumonia or heart disease. The other alternative is that he is overweight. He eats everything in sight but we only put 3 pouches down a day for him so we think that he catches prey or getting fed by someone else

Re: Socialising cats

He does it when he is sitting at the window and it sounds like wheezing, and then when he is lying down on the couch or bed or whatever, he sounds a bit chesty. I'm not looking forward to getting him into the cat carrier tomorrow and my bf is going to help me before he goes to bed (he works nights) ...

Re: Socialising cats

Dax is still being a whopper and a PITA, won't stay in the room with her today. I think there may be something wrong with his breathing as he has been a it raspy over yesterday and today but no cold symptoms. So he is going to the vets for 9:50am tomorrow because they want to rule out cat flu. Ezri ...

Re: Socialising cats

Now she is saying that Ezri isn't at least 8 weeks old. She is exceptionally small but her eyes had gone to yellow when I had picked her up last week which happens around 7 weeks and I was told that she was 8 weeks when I picked her up. She asked me if she was eating okay and she is, she is eating m...

Re: Socialising cats

Meh I'm a bit peeved cos my friend who is a vet nurse is round and has just told me that I shouldn't have got her because Dax is just gonna leave and find somewhere else to live. I'm not bothering with her now, even though she is round until around 2am. Dax and Ezri can sit in a room together now wi...

What is winding me up is that he keeps eating her food...

Yep she crab danced his ass and then ran under table. She has some balls cos she hasn't batted an eyelid to his aggressive body language

Just going bed now and Dax now won't even come to bed :( suppose I can have that blanket back that he stole just after I bought it!

Re: Socialising cats

I have just had around 30 mins of him watching her play in full view and she came within 2 foot of him, he growled at her but we said calming stuff to him and telling him to stop being silly in a nice tone. No hissing though. When she got closer to him she started doing this thing in circles, sort o...

Re: Socialising cats

I have 2 kitties in one room!!!!!!! Granted Dax doesn't know she is in here cos she is asleep on the duvet on the couch and she is tiny and he is asleep on the floor. He has eaten all her food even though he has always turned his nose up at food in jelly... Is this a dominance thing or cos he is hun...

Re: Socialising cats

This cat doesn't sleep... Like ever. She will settle down but then watch everything around her and let out the occasional squeak. Dax still hasn't come in from when he came in and sniffed everything. I think there has been some progress but I don't want him to feel he has lost his home and go look s...

Re: Socialising cats

So Dax has just been in again,he comes in gingerly and looking around the room before he comes through the door and sniffed Ezri's bed and litter tray that I moved in to the living room and don't think he saw Ezri cos she is on top of the duvet on the couch which he didn't look at, but anyways he we...

Re: Why does my cat meow for no reason?

Hello and welcome :) As long as he isn't injured and eating and drinking fine then he should be okay, albeit annoying! You could try feliway to calm him down if you think it may be stress? Is he neutered? And when you say it's a different sort of meow, is it a yowl? If you look on YouTube to see wha...

Re: Socialising cats

Hello Mayday, any advice you can give would be great!

Dax is constantly offensive to me now whether or not I smell of Ezri, will this die down over time?
