Aww bless her.

it looks to me like mild conjunctivitis, or the beginning of a cold - cats can catch cold just like humans; it isn't necessarily flu. You may notice swollen eyelids or some sneezing. I wonder if she's had a reaction to her vaccination.

As long as the discharge (from eyes or from nose) remains clear, and as long as she continues to eat, I would just keep her in and keep her warm. You might need to feed her fishy, smelly foods if she's sneezy, as she might not be able to smell her regular food. This sort of thing clears in a week/10 days.

My three have just had the same thing; I'm sure this was caused by stress as one of them had to go to the vet's with a different problem, but the comings and goings and cat carrier caused quite a lot of alarm. They're all fine now and enjoying being spoiled with posher food than normal, grrr, little horrors!

They had a couple of mildly watery eyes between them, which I mopped gently, but if an eye closes and doesn't re-open with gentle bathing with warm saline (tsp salt to pint cooled boiled water) or you see thick opaque discharge from eye or nose, then I'd get her to the vet's.

That's my take on it, anyway; other people will have more knowledge and advice, but hope this helps for now - all the best with her, let us know how you go on :)

I've had two cats with a watery eye that's looked just like your cat's, (both the right eye, too) and in both cases the vets have said that it's nothing to be concerned about - just a leaky tear duct. I've just wiped their faces with a tissue when needed. Hopefully yours won't be any more serious.

Could you email one or two of these photos to your vet, to get an opinion without the stress of taking the cat?

Yes, colds can't be transmitted from human to cat or vice versa, and the odd sneeze is nothing to worry about - good luck and give her a fuss from me :)
