"I am not a Robot" CAPTCHA/ Challenges!

Post by YogiBoy »

Hello,

Re: those "I am not a Robot" CAPTCHA / Challenge pages...

Occasionally, some visitors to our forum may be presented with a ‘captcha’ or ‘challenge’ page when posting, to prove that you are a real person and not a spam-bot or hacker. This is because we recently installed a CloudFlare firewall, to guard against the increasing number of spammers and hackers. Sometimes however, this will mean that a genuine visitor may be ‘challenged’.

Genuine visitors can of course still enter the site and post on the forum simply by passing the captcha (usually just a tick-box, but can sometimes be a visual ‘challenge’). You must have cookies and JavaScript enabled in your browser settings to pass the captcha. If you are running any anti-virus or firewall programs on your computer, then you may also need to check to make sure that they aren't blocking access to the captcha image.

Why might you see a captcha or challenge page?
A site visitor to a website that Cloudflare is protecting can see a captcha for the following reasons:

1. The IP address you are on has shown problematic activity online recently in one of CloudFlare’s data sources. If you are on a shared network, this could be related to another user on that network.

2. You may be connecting from a country that we have set a ‘challenge’ on in our firewall, due to previous problematic activity from that country.

3. Your actions are triggering a Web Application Firewall rule.

4. It might be that your IP address is distributing malware or spam (probably without your knowledge!), in which case, your computer may have a virus infection and we would recommend running an anti-virus scan.

These challenges should only appear very occasionally in one of the above circumstances, if your post triggers one of the security settings in the firewall. If you are finding a particular problem with these challenges please do post here or contact the team, including full details of where you are posting from (country) and details of the issue you are having.

Thank you for your understanding!
