Post by Kakeekee »

I am researching making my own cat food after 1 of my 5 had a severe allergic reaction to a food . This scared me so much and I realised I have no idea what I feed my cats I just buy what I think is a good quality food . I would really appreciate advise , recipes and tips can anyone help .

The subject is quite complicated and you need to ensure you provide all the required protein, fat, vitamins and minerals as well as avoiding certain substances which are dangerous for cats. I would recommend getting a good cat care book, such as Grace McHattie's "Supercat - the non-pedigree cat care book" which contains lots of useful information on dietary requirements and some suggestions for home prepared cat food (my copy is now over 25 years old and has served 3 generations of cats).
