Tower Hill Stables Animal Sanctuary

Welcome to Fiona's 2023 Christmas Fundraiser !

Fiona likes to do something a little different each Christmas to help raise much needed funds for the sanctuary.Last Christmas, she ran 52 miles on Christmas Eve, but this year she has decided to make every day of December up to Christmas Day part of her new fund raising campaign which she has called Miles for Mouths and Smiles.

With over 500 rescued animals to care for every day and as she explains in her Patreon video (which we have made "Public" so everyone can see it - link here.

As you may have seen in the news Vernon Kay just completed his ultra marathon (100 miles) for Children in Need and raised a huge £5.8m in so doing.

Fiona has set her target to raise 0.1% of this amount for the animals and will need to run around 20 miles a day - Percy has sorted her out a number of Christmassy outfits as she explains in the video.

Once the campaign launches Fiona will be posting regular daily updates all through December as to how she is getting on - bear in mind she still has all the sanctuary work to fit it too !!!

Please help to make this campaign a success and share the link to the fundraiser :)

Thank you

Marathon des Cows

Have you heard of the Marathon des Sables? It’s billed as the toughest footrace on the planet and involves competitors running a marathon a day for 6 days across the Sahara Desert, whilst carrying all their food and supplies on their backs in temperatures up to 50 degrees C – 250 Km in all. It’s not for the faint hearted!

Fiona - the Sanctuary founder – has done this race 3 times now (with Percy of course) – not because she likes doing it, but to show that as a lifelong vegan, she can. Essentially to dispel the myth that vegans are weak, frail and would blow away in the slightest of breezes.

If a vegan of 50 years can do this – as well as break 4 Guinness World Records in marathon running – then it is proof positive that the diet/lifestyle is not restrictive in any way

So as you may be aware if you watch our posts on social media, things have not been easy these last few years following the lockdowns and now the cost-of-living crisis, the impact being that we have seen a significant fall in monthly donations to the point where our running costs are greater than regular donations by around £6000 a month.

To cover this shortfall, we are using our reserves, but these will not last for much longer – as you might expect at this burn rate.

We were founded in 1993 with a mission to provide care and a forever home to animals in need.
